Content that Sells: How to Write Like a Marketer & Entertain Like a Creator

Let’s get one thing straight: content is everywhere. It’s tweeting, Reeling, podcasting, threading, and TikTok-ing 24/7. And in this chaotic digital carnival, your polite little blog post that reads like an academic paper? Yeah, it’s getting bulldozed by dancing finance bros and sarcastic skincare influencers.

If you're writing just to inform, you're already forgotten.

Today, content that sells needs to convince like a marketer but entertain like a creator, and that’s a craft. One that fuses strategy with storytelling, CTA with LOL, and clarity with charisma. Here's how to nail it.

Step 1: Don’t Bury the Hook. Drag It to the Front Door.

Creators know what marketers sometimes forget: your audience is one thumb-swipe away from leaving. So, skip the 5-paragraph warm-up. You need to punch the reader in the face (gently) within the first two lines.

“In today’s fast-paced digital landscape…”

“You lost that sale because your copy made people yawn.”

The best content kicks off like a friend with good gossip: fast, juicy, and impossible to ignore.

Step 2: Solve Real Problems. Entertain While You Do It.

People don’t read to be “impressed by your brand voice.” They read to fix something:

  • How to write a sales page that doesn’t feel scammy
  • How to make a boring product sound sexy
  • How to sell without looking like you’re selling

Be helpful. Be fun. Be honest. Wrap useful advice in a tone that makes people say, “Wow, I didn’t know marketing content could sound like this.”

Step 3: Structure Like a Salesperson, Flow Like a TikToker

Here’s the cheat code:

Marketers think in funnels. Creators think in scrolls. You need both.

  • Grab attention
  • Build curiosity
  • Deliver value
  • Insert frictionless CTA
  • Leave them wanting more

The trick is to disguise the funnel. You’re leading them through a journey, not dragging them by the wallet. Use short paragraphs, spicy subheadings, unexpected analogies, and formatting that breathes.

Step 4: Be a Little Weird. People Remember Weird.

Safe is forgettable. A creator’s greatest weapon is personality, and that applies to brands too.

Humor, metaphors, GIFs, even emojis (if on-brand) -  these aren’t unprofessional. They’re human. And human wins.

Step 5: Never Just “Create Content.” Create Trust.

This is the long game.

Yes, you want clicks. Yes, you want conversions. But above all, you want people to believe you. That comes from being consistent, useful, and entertaining over time. Great content doesn’t scream “BUY NOW.” It whispers, “You can trust us.”

Think about your favorite creators. You buy from them not because of perfect funnels, but because they’ve earned your attention over time. That’s the game. That’s the goal.

TL;DR: The Sweet Spot = Strategy + Sass

Marketers know how to sell. Creators know how to connect. The magic happens where those two meet.

At BFA Media, we build content strategies that turn readers into fans, and fans into customers. From cheeky taglines to high-converting landing pages, we don’t just write. We entertain, engage, and sell.
